Forty-second Legislature. Senate. No. 13. Report of the Joint Standing Committee of the State Prison. The prison was poorly managed, the prisoners
were not properly cared for, and the Warden and his subordinates were at odds. The Committee recommended the removal of the Warden and to pay down
the prison's debt. Resolve in favor of the state prison: $11,000 be appropriated to pay debts and $6,900 be appropriated to pay the year's expenses.
