Fortieth Legislature. House. No. 69. On March 13, 1861, the Committee on the Judiciary submitted: An Act concerning liens on lands and buildings,
1861. The act defined a lien and the process of filing one. The court process to enforce a lien was described, as was the sale to satisfy a lien,
and how to distribute the proceeds. When multiple creditors were involved, the process was that much more complicated. The release of a lien was
