House. Comm. on Mercantile Affairs and Insurance. Act to incorporate the Bucksport Gas Light Company, 1861
Fortieth Legislature. House. No. 34. The House Committee on Mercantile Affairs and Insurance offered a bill: An Act to incorporate the Bucksport
Gas Light Company, 1861. Five men were incorporated as above to manufacture and sell gas, subject to the usual rights and responsibilities. Its
capital stock could not exceed $75,000. It would work with the town to lay pipe in the streets and be responsible for its maintenance. Local companies
could buy stock in the enterprise and use the earnings to pay for their gas use. The town could also vote to buy stock in the business. (Digitized
