House. Act to aid the Bangor and Piscataquis Railroad Company, 1861
SEE ALSO 56238 Fortieth Legislature. House. No. 32. An Act to aid the Bangor and Piscataquis Railroad Company, and to promote the settlement of
the public lands, 1861. All the public lands in the county, with a few exceptions, would be managed by the Governor, State Treasurer, and the land
agent. Monies from any sales of these lands and timber would lodge in a fund to help the railroad. It had five years to complete its tracks to
Brownville; then it would receive half of the money in the fund and half of the remaining unsold land. When the tracks were completed to Foxcroft, it got all
the remaining money and land. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine Historical Society Library, the Maine State
Library, and the Library of Congress).
