Thirty-seventh Legislature. Senate. No. 21 Resolves relative to the bounty on cod fisheries [1858] A bill had been proposed in Congress to repeal
the bounty on cod fishing boats, which would heavily impact Maine. The boats were purpose built and could not segue into another type of fishing.
