Thirty-sixth Legislature. House. No. 11 An Act additional in relation to banks and banking, 1857. The charters of all banks hereafter incorporated or extended would expire on October 1, 1867.
**Thirty-sixth Legislature. House. No. 21. An Act additional in relation to banks and banking, 1857. There were four pages of specific banks whose charters would expire on October 1, 1867. Language gave parameters for bank condition reports, and laid out the conditions under which banks could issue currency. Banks had to keep at least 5% of their capital stock in specie. Bank Commissioners were entitled to $5.00/day plus expenses. An act of August 1846 was repealed.
**Thirty-sixth Legislature. House. No. 25. Amendment to a bill entitled an act in relation to banks and banking, 1857. The State Treasurer would print all bills and record their denominations and distribution--these would be the only legal currency. There was a schedule for retrieving and destroying old bills.
