1835 Joint Committee of Federal Relations regarding slavery, and the "incendiary proceedings of the Abolitionists" in the non-slaveholding states. Various resolutions were passed asserting the right of the state to be free from interference, and against the use of the mail to become a "vehicle" for abolitionist material.
