1834, Petition of persons interested in the burying ground in East Attleborough
Senate No. 25 Petition from subscribers interested in the burying ground in East Attleborough. The Boston to Providence railroad has located its
line right through the middle of East Attleborough's burying ground. There may be as many as 1200 graves there and the railroad proposes to move most
of them, but leave some behind in a vulnerable position. The terrain would make it easy for the railroad to go around the graveyard. The petitioners
wanted a law to protect cemeteries from such depredations. The petition was referred to the Rail Way and Canals Committee and the Judiciary
Committee. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
