1833-02, Memorial on publication of a digest of the Criminal Code with reply
Senate No. 1 In February, 1833, former Attorney General, Perez Morton, presented a manuscript of a digest of the Massachusetts Criminal Code and
suggested it might be a useful work to publish. The Legislature passed on the opportunity, but did refer the work to James Austin, the current Attorney
General, and the next legislature. Austin reported favorably in 1834 and suggested the work could be broken into two large volumes. However, at the
very least, the Legislature should purchase the valuable manuscript to be a reference work in the Legislature's Library. (Digitized from a microfilm
copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
