Comm. on Federal Relations. Report upon resolutions of other states, 1849
|
|
1849 Report from Connecticut's Joint Standing Committee on Federal Relations upon the resolutions of South Carolina, Virginia, and Missouri on slavery. Said resolutions presupposed that the federal legislature could not legislate on slavery in territories of the United States, as well as in the District of Columbia; Connecticut disagreed. Ultimately resolutions were proposed to prevent the extension of slavery into these areas. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Connecticut Historical Society Library).
