August 5, 1800 notice issued by the Connecticut governor announcing that an election would be held to replace Jonathan Brace as a Connecticut Representative in the United States Congress. This call of election was to all freeman in the towns formerly represented by Brace. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Connecticut Historical Society Library).

To the sheriff of the county of [blank] and to either of the constables of the town of [blank] within said county : [blank] greeting : The Hon. Jonathan Brace, Esquire, having resigned his seat as a representative of the people of this state in the sixth Congress of the United States--By authority of the state of Connecticut, you are hereby required to give legal warning to all the freemen in said town of [blank] to meet ... on the third Monday in September next ... to give their votes, as the law directs, for a representative of the people of this state, in the sixth Congress of the United States, in the room of the said Hon. Jonathan Brace resigned.
