1740-05-13, Enlistment request in the war against Spain
May 13, 1740 Broadside issued by Gov. J. Talcott of Connecticut to recruit citizens to enlist in the British Navy during a war against Spain. The
proclamation gave incentives to volunteers. The second page was a handwritten note. Historically, the War of Jenkins' Ear (known as Guerra del Asiento
in Spain) was a conflict between Britain and Spain that lasted from 1739 to 1748. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the
New York Historical Society Library).
