1817, An Illustration of the Principles of The African Institution as They Respect Our West India Colonies
"An illustration of the principles of the African Institution (No. V)," which was published in 1817 in London. Volume V was part of a series of
seven volumes published under the title “Antidote to West-Indian sketches” dealing with slavery in the British West Indies. This was a response to the
proclamations of the African institution calling for the abolition of slavery. Other volumes in the series include No.I: Condition of the slaves in the
British colonies, No. II: A short account of the African Institution, No. III: The actual condition of the Negroes in the British West India colonies,
No. IV: Slavery, No.VI: Observations on the Ameliorated Condition of the Negroes in British West India Colonies, and No. VII: Observations on the
necessity of a total change in the system of management of the African institution.
