Including the orders-in-council, ordinances, public notices, proclamations, regulations, etc.: comp. by Norman Bentwich, Attorney-General of
Palestine, Vol. 1–2, Alexandria, Egypt, Whitehead Morris Ltd., pr. for the Gov. of Palestine, 1926. (As the preface acknowledges, this work is not a proper
revision, but merely an attempt to collect in one place “all the legislation issued since Dec., 1917, which is still valid and in force, whatever its
original form.” Rather than being grouped in a subject classification, the materials are generally arranged in chronological order. Vol. 1 covers
orders-in-council and ordinances. Vol. 2 covers regulations, public notices, proclamations, rules of court, agreements and royal instructions. The
collection makes no attempt to cover that part of Ottoman Law which remained in force. Bentwich notes in his preface: “While the principal parts of the Ottoman
administrative law have been or are being rapidly replaced, the Ottoman Codes of Civil Law, Civil Procedure, Commercial Law and Penal Law have
remained in operation, with slight amendment.”—p. iv)
