Tangier, November 10, 1945: n.a., 7p, Cmd. 9379, London, HMSO, 1955. (At head of title: Treaty Series No. 10, 1955. In 1923 Tangier, which lies
strategically at the western end of the Straits of Gibraltar, was declared by the colonial powers to have international status and placed under joint
administration of the British, French and Spanish governments. During World War II Spanish troops occupied the city on June 14, 1940, the same day Paris fell
to the Germans. Fortunately for the allies, Spain did not attempt to annex the city outright. An agreement between the three countries at the end of
the war reaffirmed the international status. Tangier joined with the rest of Morocco following the restoration of full internal sovereignty in 1956.)
