Les affiches americaines: Vols. 1766-1791, weekly, Cap, Saint-Domingue 1766-1791, all published. (This periodical, published in Saint-Domingue, provides valuable historical background for what was at the time by far France’s most important colony. It’s scope is general, covering details of administration, culture, law, ship arrivals, notices of slave sales, trade statistics, etc. In common with its predecessors, Gazette de S. Domingue {Feb.-Aug., 1764} and Avis divers et petites affiches américaine {Aug., 1764 to Dec. 1765}, it had recurring features such as a regular column covering deaths in the colony and another column covering négres marons or escaped slaves. As with so much else, the publication fell victim to the revolutionary upheavals at the end of the French era.)
