(Provisional President Franck Sylvain was in the midst of his 56 days in power at this time. The legislative chambers had been dissolved by Sylvain on 29 Mar.
1957, and this decree was supposed to govern the subsequent election. However, with Sylvain’s departure on 2 April, it had no effect. )
