Pedone-Lauriel, 1883. (The subtitle for volume 3 differs slightly. It is not immediately clear that these three books comprise one title. However, the
University of Michigan treats them as such, and they are being offered as such on LLMC-Digital. While no “volume” legend appear on any of the title
pages, the volume numbers 1 to 3 respectively are penciled in, apparently by staff, on the title pages of the Michigan books. In addition, legends
appearing on the last pages of Vols. 1 & 2 indicate that at least a two-volume work was contemplated. Finally, in the preface to Vol. 3 Pradine alludes to
the fact that this book completes his original series. The pagination of Volume 1 is straightforward, one number sequence, cvi+484p: pp. v-lxlii,
Constitution of 1846 with amendments through 1859; pp. lxliii-cvi, table of contents; pp.1- 403, the civil code; and pp. 505-485, index. Volume 2 is a
bit more confusing. The first set of number sequences covers the code of civil procedure as follows: pp. i-lviii, laws organizing the judiciary; pp.
lxi-lxiv, table of contents for the code; pp. 1-313, text of the code. A second set of number sequences covers the code of commerce as follows: pp.
i-vi, table of contents; and pp. 1-130, text of the code. A third number sequence, pp. 1-279, contains a combined index for both the code of civil
procedure and the code of commerce. For Volume 3 the pagination is in two sets of number sequences. The first set: pp. vii-x, preface; pp. xi-xxviii,
chronological table of laws comprising the code of criminal procedure; pp. 1-421, code of criminal procedure. The second set: pp.i-x, chronological table of
laws comprising the penal code; and pp. 1-127, text of the penal code. An apparent partial reprint of this title, probably issued in 1891, is offered
on this site as 31051. Users should note that LLMC used the opportunity provided when it scanned that reprint to organize the material online in a
less confusing manner.)
