1899-01-19, Muskogee (Creek) Nation-U.S. (English & Creek)
January 19, 1899 Treaty between the United States and the Muscogee Nation. The Muscogee act which ratified the treaty on the part of the Muscogee
(Creek) Nation, Oklahoma. The treaty included a cession of some of the the Muscogee land to the United States for a sum of $2,280,857.10; part to be used
for the education of the youth. Of note, the treaty was written in English, then translated into Creek. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles
originally held by the New York Public Library).
Title:   The treaty : an act to ratify and confirm an agreement made and entered into by and between the United States of America, represnted by Wm. F. Vilas, Secretary of the Interior, by and under direction of the President of the United States, and the Muskogee (or Creek) Nation of Indians, represented by Pleasant Porter, David M. Hodge and Esparhecher, delegates and representatives thereto, duly authorized and empowered by the Principal Chief and National Council of the Muskogee (or Creek) Nation.
