Articles of a Treaty between the United States of America and the Cherokee Indians, October 24, 1804, 7 Stat. 228-229. ( Treaty in which the Cherokee Indians cede a tract of land on the boundary between the State of Georgia and the Cherokee land to the United States. As consideration the Indians were to receive either five thousand dollars in goods and merchandise or money, and an annual annuity of one thousand dollars. The treaty was concluded in the Garrison of Tellico on Cherokee land on October 24, 1804.)

Meigs, being commissioned by Thomas Jefferson, President of the United States, with the powers of acting in behalf of the said United States, in arranging certain matters with the Cherokee Nation of Indians; and the underwritten principal chiefs, representing the said nation, having met the said commissioners in a conference in Tellico.
