Aftermath of Hurricane Harvey

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, it has come to our attention that colleagues and their loved ones have been impacted by this catastrophic storm.  While insurance and government services are responding on several fronts, we know that this compassionate and resourceful community may also want to rise to the occasion on a personal basis!

We have reached out to LLMC Member Libraries in the areas affected by the storm and understand that their books were not damaged.  However, some law students, librarians, and faculty have suffered serious loss:

  • Colleen C. Manning, Director of the Fred Parks Law Library, South Texas College of Law Houston , shared this letter from Dean Guter, which describes how to donate to their law students and staff/faculty in need from Harvey.
  • Susan M. Bynam, Assistant Dean for Institutional Advancement at Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law prepared this statement  from Dean Douglas, advising that they have 52 TMSL Family directly affected by the storm as well as  damage to their law library.

Please consider how you and your teams can help them!

We will keep you informed of any other requests brought to our attention.  Of course, our thoughts are also with our friends in Florida…….
